The Dutch ace has sustained several career threatening injuries during his playing time, and the midfielder considered leaving the game after being frustrated with his physical problems. He claimed that due to the number of injuries
he suffered in his professional career, he has usually been unhappy.
"I have had so many injuries throughout my career. It occasionally makes me a bit sad," Robben was quoted as saying in an interview.
The midfield maestro suggested that thoughts of retirement crossed his mind on more than one occasion. He said that he is very sad with his fitness problems and wants to emulate his injury-prone tag.
"To be honest, I have thought about hanging up my boots more than once. It's a rather rigorous thought, but it's a consideration I've had, and not only at this point," he added.
