We got robbed last november. We recently found out for SURE on who it is that did it. We have someone that knows the person personally and told us specific things that she saw in this person house of things that they stole from us. So we know it really was this person. The girl that told us is his ex-girlfriend. She is not sure if he still has stuff or were it would be. My question is if she told the cops that it was this certain guy even though she doesnt have evidence but she still saw it all would they be able to do anything?? The guy that did it was renting a house next to us and got evicted and moved out the week we got robbed. He is in prison right now and will be out march 1 of next year. If that matters. Oh and she didnt know we were the ones he robbed. She happened to come back to our neighborhood to visit our neighbors that she had become friends with and my husband was over there hanging out and our house being robbed got brought up and thats when she confessed what she knew

  1. If you don't have evidence or hint how you might be able to get it, law enforcement is pretty much out of action.  A search warrant of the place would be helpful...excpet that your girlfriend can't be sure if the loot is still there.  Your telling us that you're sure or she's sure - but leaving out much of the explanation for how anybody knows anything in this case.  I would ahve to guess that if a police report was filed, the cops would have tried to piece together anybody who had left the area in time-proximity to your burglary.

  2. Did you make a police report at the time of the robbery?

Contact the department that you reported it to, and give them this information, and they will investigate further.  Yes, it is possible with information from the girlfriend to obtain search warrants to look for these stolen items.  Even though the alleged perpetrator is in prison, he can still be charged, and can be tried while still serving a sentence for another crme.

Good luck, and I hope everything works out.

  3. Call the cops and give them as many names and details as possible. If they don't take action, get your neighbors to go to the cops and give them first hand information of what they saw.

  4. I seriously doubt the cops can do anything, just beat her a**!
