Robbie Deans is optimistic about Wales’ chances ahead of All Blacks Test
Australia coach Robbie Deans believes Wales can beat New Zealand on Saturday 27 November in Cardiff.
Wales have not defeated the All Blacks in 57 years, but Deans believes that Wales have the players capable of beating New Zealand and they will be tough opposition for the All Blacks.
Australia beat New Zealand 26-24 in the Bledisloe Cup on Saturday 30 October and followed up their impressive win with a 16-26 victory over Wales, at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 6 November.
Deans told BBC Scrum V that Australia’s victory over New Zealand didn't fell different from their win over Wales.
"It wasn't dissimilar, to be honest. Wales kept coming right 'til the end. They kept attacking and they're a good side,” said Deans.
Wales were defeated by New Zealand 12-19 in a tight contest in last year’s Autumn International and the fixture was a result that Deans believes Wales should have won.
“New Zealand have been here before and have experienced that and they were lucky to get out of here last time. There wasn't that much in the game and you saw it last time they [All Blacks] were here—they
were probably robbed.”
Wales will play South Africa and Fiji before they take on the world’s number one team.
However, Deans who is from New Zealand feels that Wales will have a good chance of beating the All Blacks at home.
"So I'm thinking that when that game comes around the Welsh are more than capable of beating them," said Deans.
The Australian coach believes that if Wales keep pressuring New Zealand they will have a great chance of beating the All Blacks.
New Zealand had enough class to hold off a stern English challenge and claim an opening 16-26 Test win on Saturday 6 November at Twickenham.
