Robbie Deans terms criticism of Quade Cooper as unfair and expects the player to fight it out
Wallabies head coach, Robbie Deans, has termed the ongoing criticism of the Aussie star international fly half, Quade Cooper, as unfair. Cooper, who was under fire since the start of the 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC), received
lots of comments following his poor performance in the Wallabies semi-final encounter against the All Blacks.
The All Blacks defeated Wallabies 20 – 6 on Sunday, October 16 at Eden Park, Auckland. Deans publically backed his star backs’ player and said, “There has been a lot made of something that's pretty small, really, when you look
at it in the light of the whole game.”
Deans termed the ongoing trial on Cooper as “tough for a young man”. He made these comments on Monday, October.
Earlier, All Blacks head coach commented that the Cooper does not get the respect from the New Zealanders because he did not deliver any good performances in the season. He added, “I think Quade has brought a wee bit of that on himself, He's got a wee bit
of mileage to make up and he probably made up a bit tonight.”
Deans on the contrary has categorically denied his counterpart’s assessment of Cooper’s performance. He said, “I've been very impressed actually with the way he's carried himself because clearly a lot of the dialogue has been
unwarranted.”
Deans further added that for the people who don’t know Cooper, it is easy for them to point a figure at Cooper and criticise him. He has praised his fly half courage, which has helped him to see through one of the tougher phases
of his life.
Deans has expressed his confidence that Cooper’s experience will help him to become a better player and develop his game further.
The Waikato born Quade Cooper has been All Blacks public enemy number one since his arrival in his country of birth.
Although he hasn’t publicly made any comments, he has left a couple of message on his twitter account, which depicts his recent thoughts. His last general public update read, “Not much in life is fair when things are going well
for you most likely they are not so good for someone else. Always look for the positives.”
