Fowler believes that Liverpool need some world-class players to challenge the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. The two clubs are backed by their billionaire owners who spend millions in the transfer window every year.
The former attacker is confident that the side can move forward by signing some three or four great players. He believes that the current lot is young and extremely talented and by adding some experienced individuals to the squad
will certainly help.
"You never know with Liverpool but I think they need to spend a little bit of money to keep up with the teams that have finished above them. We all know that they've been many managerial changes and they usually get money to spend
to bring in their own players,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is confident that the Reds are moving in the right direction and is confident of an improved season next term. He added that there is a great chance the club can finish in the top four next season
as they have the quality players and an aspiring manager on their side.
Fowler believes that the Merseyside giants will be back to their best in two or three years as the players in the current lot are very young.
“Hopefully the same will happen to Liverpool and we can hang on to the coat-tails and maybe break into the top four,” he concluded.
