Robbie Maddison confident about making history at Red Bull’s “New Year. No Limits”
The Australian motorcycle stunt rider Robbie Maddison is all set to make history by pushing the record for the longest-distance jump over the 400-feet mark this year at Red Bull’s “New Year. No Limits” jump on December 31.
The 30-year-old dare-devil has been making preparation for performing a jump over California’s San Diego Harbour on his dirt-bike, intending to travel a minimum distance of 400 feet before touching the ground.
Talking to a reporter from the leading news network ESPN, Maddison said that he is feeling pretty confident about the jump that he intends to make on the final day of the year, though he is aware of the risk that is involved.
“I'm pretty confident, but at the same time it's definitely a risky jump. The last jump I did in practice I didn't get the result that I'm after on the big night, but we've made some changes to the bike and now I know what I've got to do,” said Maddison.
“Obviously a lot of it will rely on the conditions of the night, but as long as it's not overly windy I'm fairly certain I'll be sending myself and my dirt-bike well over 400 feet.”
The current record for the longest-distance jump stands at 391 feet, officially held by Ryan Capes. However, Maddison claims that he has already beaten that record during practice and will be treating the spectators to something that is bound to be historical.
The American stunt rider had held the record for the longest-distance jump with 351 feet, before Capes had beaten his record with a comprehensive margin. However, Maddison is determined to set the bar even higher this time at Red Bull’s “New Year. No Limit”
this year.
America’s Levi LaVallee will also be looking to stun the action sports fan on December 31 by performing a record-breaking jump over 300 feet of water at San Diego Harbour Bridge. According to recent updates, both Maddison and LaVallee would be performing
their respective jumps simultaneously.
With less than a week left for Red Bull: “New Year. No Limits” event to air on ESPN, the heart-beat of action sports all across the world would be racing already as they anxiously wait for the historic jumps.
