Robbie Maddison crashes during practice at 2011 Red Bull X-Fighters in Australia
Australia’s freestyle motocross (FMX) stunt rider, Robbie Maddison got injured after a crash during a practice session at the final stop of Red Bull X-Fighter’s series on Thursday, September 15, at a make-shift course on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour,
Australia.
Right after the crash, the 30-year-old rider was air-lifted to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital for further examination. Even though the actual extent or nature of his injuries has not been revealed, an official word from Red Bull states that his condition
is stable. The news of his stable condition was confirmed by the hospital’s spokesperson as well, though she refrained from revealing anything about the nature and extent of the injuries as well.
The crash took place just two days before the sixth and final stop of the X-Fighters stunt show. Maddision currently sits in sixth place overall on the tour and was expected to fight tooth and nail during the weekend’s battle to walk away with a good result.
It is not yet revealed whether he would be participating in the contest this weekend. For further details, the organisers are being contacted, though they have been refusing to comment on the situation and the possibility of Maddison’s appearance in Saturday’s
event so far.
The Aussie has been one of the most prominent athletes in the sport for the last decade. Ever since making his debut in X-Fighters in 2001, he had managed to make a solid impact at the stunt show and was always among the strongest contenders for the highest
spot on the podium.
The dare-devil had gotten fame through a number of feats, which involved performing stunts at some of the most famous landmarks around the globe. Jumping a bike on to the top of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and a backflip over the opening in Tower Bridge
in London are just a couple of the breath-taking stunts that he has performed.
Maddison is also a three-time X-Fighters event winner and has an X Games Moto X Best Trick silver medal on his resume.
It would surely come as a huge disappointment for the fans if Maddison is unable to compete in the event on Saturday..
