Robbie Williams claims tour spot for next two seasons: 2012 World Snooker Q School
World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) finally came to an end after a successful finish of the third event. The players who took part in the Q School put up an excellent display at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield and 12 of them were able to win
a place in the professional tour circuit of the game for the next two years.
These 12 players will be participating in the qualifying stages of all major ranking snooker tournaments of the 2012-13 and 2013-14 Snooker Seasons. The two-year pro tour window was suggested by the World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn to give the players
an opportunity to work harder and claim a position in the pro circuit and show their talent to the whole world.
Along with all other potters who made their way into the pro tour, England’s Robbie Williams also tried his luck this time and was able to win a place in the next two seasons. He performed brilliantly throughout the event and was able to make his way successfully
into the quarter-final stage of the tournament where he faced compatriot Mitchell Mann.
The Englishman proved his class against Mann and defeated him by a crucial score line of 4-3 in the quarter-final stage of the event to earn a place in the professional circuit. The game seemed a tussling encounter from the very beginning as both potters
went neck-to-neck but Williams played sensibly in the final frame to ensure his victory and pro tour ticket.
While speaking to World Snooker after his tremendous success in the Q School Event 3, Williams said, “I'm very relieved and pleased with myself. In snooker terms I'm getting on a bit at 25 and I knew this was one of my last chances to get on the tour. I
have come very close to getting on before, which made me more determined. My ultimate goal is to get into the top 16.”
He had a superb run in the event with easy victories over Jay Bullen by 4-1 in Round 2, as he got a walkover in the first round. He defeated Ashley Wright by 4-1 in Round 3 and Adrian Gunnell by 4-2 in Round 4 to set up Mann clash.
