Robbie Williams ousts Peter Ebdon, Nick Jennings, Ali Carter: PTC Event 1 Last 16 – Snooker news
Robbie Williams surged into the Last 16 stage of Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1 after ousting former world champion Peter Ebdon, Nick Jennings and Ali Carter in Round 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The Englishman played outstandingly during the tournament
and made his way to the Last 16, making major upsets.
Williams will next meet 2010 World Snooker Championship runner-up, Graeme Dott in the Last 16 round. He defeated Peter Ebdon 4-2 in the first round followed by Nick Jennings with the same scoreline of 4-2 to set up a Last 32 clash with Ali Carter. Carter
received the same treatment as Ebdon and Jennings did and lost to the Liverpool cueman 4-2.
Williams has never played Dott in his career and although the latter will be a clear favourite in their encounter, Williams has a knack of pulling off major upsets, like he has proved in the previous rounds.
Interestingly, out of all the big guns of snooker, only a handful have made it to the Last 16 stage of the competition. Among them is one player, who doesn't need any introduction, Ronnie O’Sullivan. The Rocket O’Sullivan is in superb form and has been successful
in dominating his opponents completely during the event.
The Essex Exocet, O’Sullivan defeated Mike Hallett 4-2 in the first round, Andy Hicks 4-1 in second and Bjorn Haneveer 4-0 in the third to set up a Martin Gould clash in Last 16 of the event.
England’s Joe Jogia has also been impressive at the baize as he stormed into the Last 16 round, beating Welsh National Champion Daniel Wells 4-0 in first, China’s Liu Chuang 4-1 in the second and compatriot Michael Holt 4-2 in the third round. He will next
meet David Gilbert in the Last 16 stage of the competition.
