Robbie Williams planning to appear in all PTC events in 2011-12 Snooker Season
Players Tour Championships (PTC) Event 1 has been a launching pad for several snooker players, as they have ignited a new spark to perform brilliantly in other tournaments of 2011-12 Snooker Season.
England’s Robbie Williams is one of those cuemen who seem to be really motivated to perform well in the current season.
24-year-old Williams was outstanding in the first PTC event, surging into the fourth round but unfortunately, he couldn’t make it to the final stage at the World Snooker Academy. The Wallasey potter
defeated a couple of big names in world snooker like Ali Carter and former world champion Peter Ebdon. However, he lost to Graeme Dott 4-0 in fourth round.
While speaking to a local website, Williams said, “The PTC1 was a great start to the season for me. Beating Peter Ebdon and Ali Carter was a real boost for my confidence, as leading up to the tournament,
I wasn't cueing particularly great. It was even better because I felt I could have easily lost in the qualifier against Sam Harvey. Neither of us played as well as we can do and I was lucky to scrape through 4-3.”
Williams has planned to participate in all PTC events this year, as World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn has made the PTCs, after Q School, another door to qualify for pro tour. Williams also aims to
make it to the Top 64 of the world at the end of this season.
He told the website, “This season, I'll be entering all of them. Especially now Big Bazza has introduced tour cards up for grabs for amateurs as well as the professionals outside the top 64. A lot
can happen over a season but I'm glad I've got off to a good start.”
World Snooker has announced draws for Players Tour Championships (PTC) Event 2 on Tuesday, July 5 according to which, Williams will meet Lasse Munstermann in the qualifying session. However, Williams
is hoping for a positive run in 2011-12 Snooker Season and believes he can pose a serious threat to his opponents in the upcoming events of the season.
