Robby Albarado to mount Sassy Image in the Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes at Ellis Park
Rider Robby Albarado will compete for the first time in Kentucky since May, 2012, and will be aboard the Dale Romans trained, Sassy Image, in the Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes at Ellis Park on 11th August, 2012, which covers the distance
of 1 mile.
The jockey was arrested on charges of domestic violence in his home on 3rd
May, 2012. This was the second time the rider was arrested on this charge. As a result of this, he was convicted of fourth-degree assault.
Due to the fact that he was arrested, the rider was given a temporary restraining order.
This was confirmed by d**k Brown, spokesman for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. During this phase, he raced outside of Kentucky and guided, Silver Max, to victory in the $600,000 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs.
Despite his criminal record, the 38-year-old jockey has ridden professionally since the age of 16, and over the course of his 27,144 starts, he has an overall record of 4,419 first place, 4,083 second, and 3,739 third place finishes with career earnings
worth $ 176 million.
The rider has accumulated some great victories overtime, and was awarded the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award in 2004.
Some of his most significant victories include the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes victory in 2007, when he guided the Steven Asmussen trained Curlin over Street Sense to win the middle  jewel of the Triple Crown.
2007 seemed to be a good year for him, since he claimed the Breeders’ Cup Classic, again with Curlin.

The son of Smart Strike was capable, but the rider brought out the best in him. He won this race by defeating, Hard Spun, and completed the 1 ¼ mile distance in 2 minutes and 00.59 seconds.
Two years later, he claimed another victory in the Breeders’ Cup when he guided the Dale Romans trained, Tapitsfly, to victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
In 2011, another he downed the Breeders' Cup Mile with Dale Romans’s charge, Court Vision.
After a series of bad events, the jockey has a chance to redeem himself in this race. He has been riding frequently at Arlington Park.
