  1. the duran who beat leonard takes a unanimous decision over emile.

  2. i want duran....

  3. Emile Griffith is one of the greatest welterweights ever and he was completely at home at welterweight. Duran was a natural light weight who was beating bigger guys. The difference here is skills and power. Griffith was a very hard hitting fighter with very good hand speed. Duran was a hard hitting fighter who was slow but powerful and quite mean. Griffith however never fought at full capacity after he killed that kid paret in the ring.....at his very best griffith was a formidable fighter with great power and great hand speed and the skills to boot....duran was an amazing fighter but he had the bad tendency of trading punches with his opponents and leaving himself open for shots. Against Griffith such tactic would be suicidal. Griffith by tko or decision.

  4. Thanks to you, if boxing conversation is food I'd never starve.  This is another good match up.  Again, as in the case with Burley,  Duran is just ordinary above 135.  He lost more motivation than skill or talent.  Given that I would have to go with the Duran who defeated Leonard to face Griffith.  Any other version above 135 would not do.

Emile was a very good boxer who was difficult to hurt so there would be no KO for Duran.  Duran was very tough as well.  The many times he showed up out of shape and still survived is proof that it's not easy to hurt him................unless you're Tommy Hearns.

Griffith doesn't pack the power of Hearns.  IF he faced Duran as he was against Leonard,  I believe Duran would have the conditioning and defensive skills to out-point Emile.  The fight would HAVE to take place at 147 and it's still a long shot for Duran.  It's the only way I see Duran winning this one. He's a better fighter but just not as effective above 135.

Because I can't imagine Duran being as motivated as he was against Leonard, he comes up short here.  It's very close and could go either way.

    Griffith by close decision

  5. Toughguy you did it again this is a war from the opening bell both fighters taking and giving shot after shot Duran could take any one punch at welterweight I see this fight going late into the 13 or 14 round with Duran just pounding away at Griffith until he breaks him I am reminded of the Davie Moore fight when every one had written Duran off and Duran stormed back to knock the late Davie Moore out great fight. Duran would be to much for Griffith and Griffith has never fought anyone like Duran but Duran has fought the best and won out sid of his weight class.Wow what a fight Duran by KO
