Robert Andino sparks as Baltimore Orioles defeat Cleveland Indians 8-3 - MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles’ short-stop, Robert Andino had an amazing day with the bat as he went 1-for-3 with an average of .259 and hit four RBIs including a solo homer in the Orioles’ 8-3 win against the Cleveland Indians at Oriole Park, Baltimore on July 17.
The Indians started pretty well as they smashed three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Travis Hafner struck a solo homer (405 feet) towards centre-field, Carlos Santana homered (413 feet) to right-field and Ezequiel Carrera posted a single run
on the drive of Travis Buck towards right field. Matt LaPorta occupied the third base at the end of first inning.
In the second inning, the Orioles’ batters scored their initial run to cut their deficit 3-1 when Adam Jones hit a one-run homer (404 feet) to left-field. After the third and fourth inning, the Indians were on top as these innings went score-less.
The Orioles’ starter, Mitch Atkins was much expensive with his pitching as he threw three innings with an ERA of 8.44 and permitted three runs on six hits with three earned runs. He gave up two walks, two home-runs and had just three strike-outs on his 77
pitches.
During the fifth inning, the Orioles scored three runs to go-ahead 4-3. Andino struck a three-run homer (368 feet) towards left-field while Matt Wieters and Mark Reynolds both singled to complete a three-run campaign for the Orioles. Nick Markakis homered
(391 feet) to right-field at the bottom of the sixth inning to take the Orioles’ lead 5-3.
The Orioles’ batters posted two runs in the seventh inning to extend their lead 7-3. Derrek Lee added one run on the sacrifice fly of Andino towards first base while J.J. Hardy singled off centre-field and Andino scored the second run of the seventh inning.
Andino said, “Anything I can do to help the team win. I'm just happy to be here.”
Wieters hit a solo homer (373 feet) towards right-field to give the Orioles a big 8-3 lead at the end of eighth inning. On the other side, the Indians’ batters were struck-out at the top of the ninth inning and were unable to reduce their lead.
With this hard-fought win, the Orioles tied the four-game series 2-2, at Baltimore.
