Robert Arnott confident about his performance at the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship
Robert Arnott is set to leave a positive impression when he will tee off at this year’s Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship, slated to start from Thursday, August 7, 2012.
According to Arnott, he has been enjoying the best form in the past few months and is ready to outshine his opponents at De Vere Carden Park.
He is currently working with the PGA Master Professional Ian Rae, his long-time coach. According to him, he brought several changes in his playing technique this year.
As a result, he has been outstanding on the course and managed to win four events this year. His last victory came at the PolloK Golf Club pro-am when he recorded a one-stroke margin over Greig Hutcheon.
"I've been winning a few events this year and I actually feel like I'm playing better now than when I made it into the PGA Cup team nine years ago," he said.
He told that he, along with his coach, had been working hard on his putting, as he believes that there is no point of reaching the greens if one cannot finish them well on time.
Despite not having any experience in playing golf at the Jack Nicklaus-designed course, he is confident to display a good game. He will enter Glenmuir’s field next week for the first time in his career.
"I've been working with Ian Rae for 20 years now but it's never too late to change things round or take a fresh look at things - even though I'm an old man at 48!” he said. "All good coaches move with the times and I think Ian's one of those people. I feel
I can handle the game better now and not get too upset when things don't go to plan".
According to the golf commentators, the Scottish players do not visit the area very often, which is the main reason behind their inexperience at the venue.
However, they can still give a tough competition to their rivals this year because of their good forms during the 2012 season.
The tournament will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year along with Glenmuir’s 20 years of sponsorship with the tournament.
