Robert Bollier clinches Men’s 200m butterfly gold: Day two – ConocoPhillips National Championships
Robert Bollier of Stanford Swimming clinched the title of Men’s 200m butterfly meet on the second day of the 2011 ConocoPhillips National Championships on Wednesday, August 3, in Palo Alto, California.
The Long Course USA championship is taking place at the Aquatic Centre in Stanford University and will conclude on August 8, after the completion of all swimming events.
The 21-year-old Bollier, who qualified as the tenth fastest swimmer into the final, presented a beautiful swim in the final round and pocketed the title of the event in a time of 1 minute and 56.64 seconds. He was followed by the fastest qualifying swimmer,
Daniel Madwed of Club Wolverine-M, who surfaced on the victory stand for the silver medal, by producing a time of 1 minute and 56.71 seconds.
Similarly, Davis Tarwater of SwimMAC Carolina stayed 0.07 seconds behind the silver medallist and clinched the bronze medal of the event, by reporting in a time of 1 minute and 56.78 seconds. The 27-year-old Tarwater was 0.23 seconds ahead of his following
swimmer, Thomas Luchsinger of Three Village Swim Club, who posted a fourth fastest time of 1 minute and 57.01 seconds.
Mark Dylla of Athens Bulldog Swim Club was the fifth finest swimmer of the four-lap event, as he remained just 1.18 seconds away from his former finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 58.19 seconds. Matthew Bartlett of SwimAtlanta-GA/U was the sixth
best swimmer to complete his swim, as he stayed 0.81 seconds slower from the fifth finisher and produced a time of 1 minute and 59.00 seconds.
Bollier’s team-member, David Mosko claimed the seventh finest spot of the event, as he ended his swim in 1 minute and 59.32 seconds. He was trailed by Tyler Clary of Fast Swim Team-C, who secured the eighth spot, with a timing of 1 minute and 59.58 seconds.
The gold medallist expressed happiness over his tremendous win, while the arena cheered for the remarkable efforts of all participants. In addition, the podium finishers collected their medals after completion of the session.
