Robert Garcia: Pacquiao has achieved more but Mayweather and Donaire are more skilled – Boxing news
Robert Garcia, who is considered as one of the best trainers in boxing, admits Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), has the best credentials in the
sport.
However, Garcia believes Pacquiao’s biggest rival Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather Jr. and Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire are superior to Pacquiao in the skills department.
The Oxnard-based trainer, who is more commonly known as Grandpa, admitted what Pacquiao has achieved thus far may never be seen again from any other boxer. However, on the same note he remarked the undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who is a five-division
world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, and Donaire, who holds the WBC and WBO Bantamweight World Championship titles, are blessed with more skills.
“What Pacquiao has done and what he has going on right now is something that we might not see again from another fighter – Filipino, Mexican or whatever,” the 36-year-old owner of The Robert Garcia Boxing Academy is quoted to have said by Fighthype.com.
“If we talk about skills, I could say maybe Nonito is the more skilful fighter than Pacquiao. Maybe Mayweather is more skillful than Pacquiao,” He continued, “But for what Pacquiao has done – coming from flyweight, welterweight, super welterweight and still
winning titles and beating everyone in front of him… like I said, we may never see that again.”
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, is currently set to take on the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12, 2011 in their much-anticipated trilogy bout at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nevertheless, Pacquiao will be on a lookout for an opponent once again and everyone is hoping maybe he will get close to Mayweather for setting up a super-fight. So let’s hope if a fight between these two is made, as it will certainly be one of the biggest
bouts of recent boxing history.
