Robert Griffin III aware of competition he is going to face in professional league – NFL News
Just a few hours before the National Football League (NFL) 2012 draft was scheduled to kick off, former Baylor’s quarterback, Robert Griffin III (RG3), who was one of the two top prospects of the draft, acknowledged that he is going to face a tough competition
soon after turning pro.
RG3 and Stanford’s quarterback, Andrew Luck, were the top two prospects of the draft. Indianapolis Colts, who had the first overall pick, selected Luck and RG3 was drafted by Washington Redskins.
These two sensational players dominated most of the media coverage related to the draft during the last two months, but RG3 thinks that after turning pro, he and Luck will have to face some serious competition.
The Washington Post reported that RG3 thinks that he and Luck would be the league’s worst quarterbacks once they turn pro.
While acknowledging the presence of quarterbacks like Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers, Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning, New York Giants’ Eli Manning, New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees and others, RG3 said that the new quarterbacks would have to compete with
all of them.
“As of Thursday as of 8 and 8:10 [p.m.], me and Andrew are two of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL. There’s Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Eli, I could go on for days – sorry if I didn’t mention you; don’t be mad. They’re great quarterbacks
and we’re back at the bottom of the totem pole. Maybe we won’t be the worst, but by no means are we 1-2. We know that we have to compete.”
Meanwhile, RG3 also shed light on his decision of declining private workout request from Indianapolis Colts.
RG3 asserted that he did not participate in the private workout of any team and said that he felt Colts’ feelings were hurt when he declined their workout request.
RG3 also said that he had realised that Colts would select Luck when he turned down the workout request.
“I went to D.C. on a visit and [Indianapolis] didn’t offer a visit at all, and so we kind of knew what direction they were going.”
In the first round of the draft, Luck was officially selected by Colts while Redskins gave their jersey to RG3.
