Robert Griffin III says he and Andrew Luck are two number one draft picks - NFL News
Robert Griffin III is one of the most talented prospects to become available in the 2011-12 National Football League (NFL) drafts.
His talent with the ball and passing accuracy had already made him a huge draft prospect. However, the Baylor graduate also boasts a great mind to take on curve balls from the media.
The young quarterback likely to go first or second in this April’s draft sat down with
ESPN and answered questions like a rounded pro.
Asked why he would want to become the number one draft pick, the Baylor graduate said.
"It's not the money, of course, because nowadays everything's slotted with the new CBA. I think it's just that competitiveness.”
Griffin with Stanford graduate Andrew Luck are the two top quarterback prospects in this year’s drafts. Luck has been rated highly and is expected to go number one overall to the Indianapolis Colts after some brilliant displays with his college team.
The Baylor graduate though is equal in measure and won the Heisman Trophy this year. He is being scouted out by the Washington Red Skins who traded a number of draft picks with the St. Louis Rams to move up the draft and have a shot at picking Robert Griffin
III.
The young quarterback understands that and said that both he and Luck are two number one picks.
"So in this case, there's two No. 1 picks. Washington didn't trade up to No. 2 to pick a guy at No. 2, they're going to pick a guy they'd pick at No. 1. Really, in this draft, there are two No. 1 picks. That's why I won't be mad if Andy goes first."
The youngster is also ready to face Luck in a league game and said that both of them will be compared to each other throughout their careers.
"No matter what, it's going to be 'Luck vs. Griffin' for the rest of our careers. We always know that we'll be compared side-by-side."
The drafts will take place on April 26-28.
The Colts are said to be looking at Griffin as well and there is still no certainty as to who will end up becoming the number one draft pick for the 2012-13 season.
