Robert Guerrero calls Amir Khan a ‘scumbag’ for degrading Freddie Roach – Boxing News
It seems like former IBF and WBA light welterweight titlist Amir Khan has pushed the wrong switch by picking on Freddie Roach’s Parkinson’s disease. Khan, who parted ways with the Hall of Famer trainer, recently asserted that it was getting harder for Roach
to cope up with training due to his illness. The comments did not sit well with Roach, or his supporters.
Since then, many fighters have stood up for Roach, calling out the Briton fighter. Among all, Robert Guerrero has been one of the few who spoke about Khan’s performance against Garcia, insisting that the Briton will lose every time he faces a hard-puncher.
“I knew that was going to happen,” said Guerrero in an interview with Examiner.com. “And I think if they fight, every time that will happen. Amir Khan just don’t have a chin, that’s it. I take my hat off to Danny Garcia. I’m happy for him. He went out there
and knocked out Khan. A little bit sad that he got to him before I did but he did his thing and all you can do is congratulate him.”
Guerrero is former champion who is preparing for his fight against Andre Berto, which takes place on November 24.
“For him to say that, that’s straight being a scumbag. His next fight is going to show. Time is going to tell. The guy can’t take a punch. You can’t blame that on Freddie Roach,” he added.
Khan spoke of Roach some weeks back during his press conference for his fight against Carlos Molina, which takes place on December 15 in Los Angeles. The former champion spoke of his newly appointed trainer Virgil Hunter, asserting that his former trainer
Freddie Roach was unable to train him on areas where he was weak.
Khan was not polite. He came up saying that Roach’s illness was the major reason as to why the Hall of Famer trainer was unable to train him well for his fight against unbeaten fighter Danny Garcia. Roach immediately reacted to the statement saying if such
was the matter, then why did Khan and his father ask him to leave Manny Pacquiao and only work with him.
