Robert Guerrero confident for his bout against Marcos Maidana – Boxing news
The 28-year-old American pugilist, Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero has beaten every opponent he has faced since 2008 and is very confident for his upcoming bout against Marcos Maidana.
Therefore, the former International Boxing Federation’s Super Featherweight champion and a former two-time IBF featherweight champion of the world, Guerrero, was asked if he is frustrated for still not being considered amongst the best pound-for-pound boxers
in the world.
Guerrero replied by saying he believes if any boxer wants to be the best he has to beat the best first.
Guerrero will be taking on the El Chino, Marcos Maidana, on August 27, 2011 in San Jose, California. Maidana is considered as one of the hardest punchers in the sport and that is why a lot of people avoid him but Guerrero has just taken him on to provide
people what they want to see.
Guerrero, who has won 29 of his 33 professional fights (1 draw, 2 no contests) with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he has always gone for the best.
Guerrero, who vacated his IBF Super Featherweight championship belt due to his wife’s battle with Leukaemia, claimed he is not going to avoid any fighter ever as he wants to be the best in the sport.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I take fights like Marcos Maidana or Michael Katsidis. I am looking for the best fights out there. I am one of those throwback fighters who fight the best to be the best. I am not going to hide, duck, and run from
everybody.”
Guerrero also mentioned the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and is considered as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Guerrero remarked, “Everyone knows that fight, Manny Pacquiao. He is pound for pound the best fighter in boxing. I know Pacquiao does not run or duck from anybody. Like I said, I am one of those throwback fighters. I want to be the best. And if you want
to be the best you have to beat the best.”
