Robert Hurley captures Men’s 400m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Robert Hurley of Australia captured gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on day one of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, October 6.
Hurley dictated terms to his opponents in the 16-lap freestyle discipline and cruised his way towards the finishing blockade for the title.
With his immaculate efforts in the 400m discipline, Hurley remained in a lead of one and a half body length over his toughest competitor and made his way to the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing an effort of 3 minutes and 42.89 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kecheng Wang of China, who stayed 1.26 seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 3 minutes and 44.15 seconds.
Wang was trailed by Gergo Kis of Hungary, who was 0.72 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end as third best finisher by clocking an effort of 3 minutes and 44.87 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Filip Zaborowski of Poland, who suffered a deficit of 1.34 seconds from his preceding swimmer and emerged on the finishing end by producing a time of 3 minutes and 46.21 seconds.
Zaborowski was traced by Sergii Frolov of Ukraine, who stayed more than three body lengths behind and touched the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 49.60 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth spot of the race was chased by Kai Wai David Wong of Hong Kong, who stayed 2.97 seconds apart and transpired on the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 52.57 seconds.
Wong enjoyed an advantage of nearly six seconds over Sheng Jun Pang of Singapore, who completed his race in seventh place by submitting an effort of 3 minutes and 58.42 seconds.
Pang was chased by Ismael Meliga of Argentina, who stayed considerably slower from his former finisher and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 05.72 seconds.
In addition, Hurley was delighted with his title claiming effort and said that he would continue his hard work and try to achieve the same in future events.
