Robert Karlsson grabs an early lead at the Nordea Masters in Sweden
The first round of the Nordea Masters is underway at the scenic Bro Hof Slott Golf Club in Sweden and many of the players have already made the turn after completing their opening nine holes.
Alexander Noren, the home-favourite Swede, opened up his round early in the morning carding no fewer than five birdies in his back nine and made the turn with five-under. Playing within the home crowd and also on his favourite courses, Noren took particular
care of not disappointing the crowd.
The Swede's front nine, which he played afterwards, did not prove as prolific as the back nine and he dropped his first shot of the day at the par-four, 2nd, twice on the same hole. The player moved on to stumble on another bogey at the par-four,
3rd before finally carding a birdie at the fifth. Noren is still playing for the final three holes of the day and is currently in contention for the second spot with two other players.
Robert Karlsson, winner of last year's Dubai World Championship, is currently on top of the leaderboard, posting a stunning front nine. He pulled in four birdies in his opening nine and made the turn to card one more at the 10th. He is still to
tee-off for the rest of the eight holes of his back nine.
John Perry of England and South African Jaco Vanzyl are also tied for the second spot for the moment after pulling impressive opening nines so far. Both players are three-under and have already made the turn to start off rest of the nine holes.
Henrik Stenson, the seasoned Swede golfer, is almost through his first round and has pulled in a disappointing score of one-over till 16 holes. He started off his morning with a terrible bogey on the back nine at par-three, 11th, but quickly regained
his composure to pull two birdies before making the turn. He stumbled on two more bogeys on his front nine and will be hoping to conclude his first round with a reasonable score.
Long-hitting Bubba Watson has played his 18 holes for the morning and has just been able to manage even-par in his first round. Dustin Johnson, the highest ranked player in the event and runner-up in the Open Championship last week, has yet to tee-off for
his first round.
