Robert Kubica's manager Daniele Morelli: Impossible to predict the Pole's return to Formula 1
Robert Kubica's manager, Daniele Morelli refrained from giving any ‘fanciful assumptions’ regarding the driver’s complete recovery. He proclaimed that it was delightful to see the way Kubica was recovering, yet, according to him, predicating the driver’s
return to the track was really not possible at the moment.
While talking to the media this Tuesday, Morelli stated, "Robert is recovering well but at the moment it is impossible to predict if and when he returns to racing."
The Polish driver met a horrific accident at the beginning of last month during a Rally race, in Italy. He was air lifted to the Santa Corona Hospital immediately, where he has already received three surgeries, in the last three weeks. The crash was so severe
that initially many feared Kubica’s survival, however, his future in racing is still uncertain.
The 26-year-old has combated his injuries very bravely and is now recovering at a far better pace than expected by many. Although it is believed that Kubica will make to the track soon again, yet, his manager simply avoided giving any certain time.
His Lotus Renault GP seat, at the moment has been occupied by Formula 1 veteran, Nick Heidfeld, who will be seen alongside the other team driver, Vitaly Petrov.
Heidfeld, who has around a decade long experience in the series, did not have a seat and was thus tested by the team at Jerez, to replace Kubica. Although his contract says that he can be replaced at any part of the season, so far, Kubica’s return does not
seem possible until the end of this season.
However, Morelli reported that all signs seem positive and the recovery process is getting along very well. His doctors also told the media earlier this week that Kubica is not suffering from any infections or complications, even after the three major operations.
The manager revealed that the early stages of "passive physiotherapy" are underway, and soon the process of rehabilitation will be further intensified.
He further explained, "We must distinguish between our optimism and the indulging of fanciful assumptions. At the moment it's impossible to talk about timeframes."
Moreover, earlier this week Kubica revealed his decision of not suing the organisers of the Ronde di Andorra rally race, where he met the poor accident. He stated that the police was already investigating the matter, which he believes will take some time.
Also, the Ferrari driver and two-time World Champion, Fernando Alonso visited the hospital on Monday and revealed happily that his friend was recovering fast. He told the reporters however, that Kubica was really bored with spending 16 or 17 hours daily
with nothing to do in the hospital.
