After another disappointing season, Renault was again unable to cope up with the top running teams even though the team has an amazing driver in Robert Kubica, who is expected to be one of the next big guns of Formula 1. However,
in order to achieve the best results and compete against the best in, a team has to work extremely hard and out think their rivals.
Robert has been doing extremely well this season as he has been actively competing against the top running teams even though he finished in 8th place in the Drivers’ standings just 2 points behind Nico Rosberg. The Polish
driver was able to secure 3 podiums this season and it is extremely impressive as his car is not as good as the top running teams and only a great driver can pull out more than a car has to offer.
Renault would have scored even better results if Robert had an equally skilled teammate but since 2010 was Vitaly Petrov’s first season in the sport, one cannot expect much from a rookie in his first year in the sport. However,
Vitaly proved that he can also compete against the top running drivers after he held back Fernando Alonso for 40 laps in the grand finale in Abu Dhabi that cost the Spaniard the Drivers’ title.
However, since the official entry list was released by the FIA recently, Vitaly’s name was nowhere to be found along with people like Nick Heidfeld, Adrian Sutil and Nico Hulkenberg.
“This is a difficult subject to get right. Of course the team would benefit from a more experienced driver. As a rookie you find that Formula One is not as easy as it first seemed. You also have to say that there have been newcomers
who have performed strongly right from the start,” Kubica told the Media.
Robert Kubica was able to score more than a hundred points than his teammate in 2010 and is aware that a driver cannot win races and consistently score points without the help and support of his teammate.
“As for my teammate next year, the team is in the best position to know what it wants and what position they are in. All I can say is that we have lost many points this season, for several reasons, but under other circumstances
we could have put more of a challenge to Mercedes,” he added.
