Robert Kubica admits he misses racing in Formula 1 – Formula 1 news
Robert Kubica, who stopped racing in Formula1 after suffering from injuries in a serious racing crash, has admitted that he misses F1.
Kubica told that he finds it difficult to watch the F1 races.
“I miss racing, that is the biggest problem,” Kubica told Daily Express. “After the race, when I am at home, I think I am living a boring and monotonous life. When I am driving, thanks to concentrating, the limitations are not really affecting me a lot. I am grateful for what I have. You cannot get out of life everything you want. When I am driving race cars it is for sure much better than it was six months ago and it is very close to what I was doing before the accident. So it is very good.”
The Polish driver stated that the only chance he might return to F1 is if his hand, which went under extensive surgery after the accident, starts moving freely. He told that until that happens, he cannot say anything for sure and he might not be returning to F1 anytime soon.
He said that the strength in his arm is not as good as before but if that was the only problem, he would have started racing after two months of treatment but unfortunately there are much bigger problems. He confessed that he has limited functionality in one arm and the fingers and the feeling is returning to them but it takes time for the nerves to heal.
Kubica admitted that the despite the fact his progress on healing has been slow in 2012 but he is not frustrated as that is going to lead him nowhere. He told that his only option is to keep pushing and trying hard.
Kubica is the first ever Polish driver to have raced in F1. He stepped into the sport in 2006 with BMW Sauber. In 2010 he joined Renault which is presently known as the Lotus F1. He carried on with the team into 2011 F1 season but just ahead of the beginning was involved with a serious crash during the Ronde di Andora rally. He could not continue after that in F1 but has taken part in other categories of motorsports.
