Robert Kubica and Renault – to be or not to be?
Robert Kubica is the leading driver and is slowly turning into a shining Formula 1 star after every passing race. Robert is a young driver who has been outperforming many of the top running drivers this year with Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher
both susceptible to his skills on the track. Kubica is constantly outperforming his teammate Vitaly Petrov as well and is hoping for a better future in the sport.
The Polish driver is currently driving for team Renault and since 2006, Renault has not been up to the mark with a plathora of sloppy performances. The team finished at 8th place in the constructors’ standings and has not been able to give a top
team performance since the last 4 years. The last time Renault performed at its best was when Fernando Alonso won two consecutive titles in 2005 and 2006, enabling the team to secure the constructors’ title as well. Robert Kubica is hoping to become the next
Fernando Alonso for the team, as he believes that he has the ability to lift a team from the ground.
There were many rumours that Robert Kubica might be offered to join Ferrari to replace Felipe Massa next season but it seems that that is not the case after Ferrari’s recent statements. There are many drivers who had the star ability and skills to become
a Formula 1 world champion but never created an opportunity to join a strong team and gain a position where they would be given a good chance to achieve the goal. In Formula 1, we have hardly seen a driver lift a team from scratch and take them to the top.
An example of such a performance was given by Fernando Alonso when he joined Renault and guided them all the way to glory.
Kubica must try his best to create a promising opportunity for himself or otherwise, he will fade away just like many other drivers did when they believed in a particular team and wasted their career. An example of that is Rubens Barrichello when he joined
Ferrari at quite an old age and was just not up to the mark as he lost his spark that Barrichello had when he was young and driving in teams like Jordan. Mark Webber can also be used as an example of this as he has been in the Formula 1 since almost 10 years
and has finally found an opportunity now. We can say that Mark Webber has played a huge part in taking Red Bull to the top alongside his teammate Sebastian Vettel.
Renault is one of those teams that can control its standard and come back strong again any day of the week. However, the drivers play a huge role in that. If Robert Kubica is offered a spot at a better team, he should not hesitate to make a decision but
if he is bound to stay at Renault, he will have to come up front and make it clear that he wants to win and not settle for a “best of the rest” title. The team needs to step up its game as well if they want to be a part of the top running teams but it is not
as easy as it sounds.
Formula 1 is a very strategic sport and everything needs to be organized. It requires a lot of dedication and heart to come up with something that is worthy of winning a Formula 1 title. One has to face the reality that it is not easy to understand how Formula
1 works. Teams have to build and upgrade their cars on a fixed amount of budget and that is not an easy task. It requires top notch engineering skills and team work.
Robert Kubica is one of the most dedicated new comers in the Formula 1 circuit but one has to be careful before making decisions regarding his future.
