Robert Kubica breaks his right leg again after nasty fall in Italy – Formula 1 news
Robert Kubica has broken his right leg again due to a fall. The injured leg is the same he fractured during a rally accident in 2011.
Kubica broke his leg in a rally crash five weeks before the 2011 season. It was a big blow for Kubica who was speculated to be the next big thing in the 2011 season. The Pole did extremely well to move Renault up the Grid in the 2010 season with a car that
was not all that competitive. He finished with 136 points for the season a best finish of second and overall position of eighth in the drivers’ championship.
The season performance has led the F1 world to recognise Kubica as one of the most talented drivers in the modern sport.
The accident was a big blow for the Pole and for his team and after a long and tumultuous time Kubica announced that he will not be available for the initial part of the 2012 season in order to recuperate completely from the injuries. Renault decided to
go with Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen for the 2012 season and it seemed doubtful for Kubica to make a return for the 2012 season.
“On a personal level, my recovery is still very encouraging and my doctors keep being impressed. I just need more time, as I want to be 100% ready before I commit to anything driving related,” Kubica said about his recovery prior to the recent accident.
There were speculations that Kubica might be in talks with Ferrari, but Stefano Domenicali after today’s incident has distanced himself from the rumours. Domenicali said that Ferrari will wait and see how Kubica recovers through this injury.
The recent unfortunate event means that Kubica is undoubtedly out for at least the 2012 season if not beyond it. The future of one of the most talented drivers is uncertain and it is very unfortunate, but going by the will of the man, he may come back even
stronger.
If Kubica can recover through 2012 and be ready for the 2013 season, he will have a good opportunity to make a return as a lot drivers’ end their contracts at the end of 2012 and teams will be looking for some fresh drivers to hire.
