Robert Kubica keeps his lips sealed regarding his teammates’ seat
The Renault driver, Robert Kubica assures that he is not poking his nose in the team’s decision for selecting his next teammate. He insisted that he completely understands how tough a decision this is for the team, although he wants the best for his old
teammate Vitaly Petrov.
The 2010 season saw the Polish driver, Kubica paired with Petrov, the Russian man. Although, it is believed that the rookie driver did a satisfactory job with the team, yet Renault is still very cautious in making the final decision for the second team driver.
As the season wraps up, Kubica stands with an advantage of more than 100 points over, Petrov who scored 27 points and took 13th position. Still there is a lot of possibility that Petrov will be seen on the grid next season as well even though
his name was missing from the official entry list announced by FIA this Tuesday.
When Kubica was asked by the press about the future of his 26-year-old teammate he stated, “This is a difficult subject to get right. Of course the team would benefit from a more experienced driver. As a rookie you find that Formula One is not as easy as
it first seemed. You also have to say that there have been newcomers who have performed strongly right from the start.”
However, he continued telling that he is still unsure and the team management is certainly in a better position to tell what it wants and what it will be looking for in a driver for the team.
He explained saying, "All I can say is that we have lost many points this season, for several reasons, but under other circumstances we could have put more of a challenge to Mercedes. On the other hand, we need to look at the circumstances we were in at
the beginning of the year. You have to respect the reasons for the decisions taken and I think they were the right ones.”
Kubica further added that while deciding for a driver, the performance is not all to be seen rather the team has to see where it stands, what its priorities are and what things it can or cannot afford.
The team has also refrained from giving any name so far as it insisted that it is still looking over the available options carefully.
