Robert Kubica takes victory in Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver, Robert Kubica has taken an inspiring victory in Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally in Italy on his return after his severe accident during the preceding year.
Kubica claimed his win after dominating in all the four stages in his Subaru Impreza World Rally Car and was one minute ahead of his major rival, Omar Bergo.
Before the start of the event, he spoke to an Italian television in which he asserted the importance of this event and said that it is very crucial for him to perform well in the tournament so as to emerge as a better driver in the future. Furthermore, he
expressed that after spending two decades in racing, he has developed a sound affiliation with his profession.
“Having been a driver for 20 years, my body is accustomed to certain things, and I can feel these things only while I drive, so we'll see," Kubica said.
In addition, he said that although he feels contended in Rally but he asserted that his real aim is to race in F1 again for which he still has a long way to go. He also said that in order to get the same level of fitness which he had before his life-threatening
accident, he needs to work very hard.
Nonetheless, he said that he is never going to surrender and will always strive to achieve his target. Over and above, he said that he is unsure about when he will be able to make his way back into F1.
"Being here is already a good step, but I would have preferred to be somewhere else. I have still got a long road to travel and will probably never be at same physical level as before but I don't intend to give up,” he said. “The aim remains to return to
F1 and next few months will tell me whether I can do it next year already or will have to wait until 2014."
The hopes of the Polish driver are really high and it will be immensely thrilling to see him in the sport in the upcoming years.
