Robert Kubica’s condition worsened after his 2nd operation: Edyta Witas
Lotus Renault GP’s Robert Kubica went through an almost fatal accident during a rally event this past week and as a result, almost lost his right hand. According to his doctors, he might not be able to race ever again in Formula 1 as his right hand’s nervous system might not function properly.
However, the doctors are trying their best to cure this problem and did two major operations on his right hand in order to ensure that his hand fully recovers.
According to his team, he is making a very fast recovery and he might even return to the sport in the final quarter of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend Edyta Witas recently revealed that he is not doing so well and that his condition has worsened after the second operation which was 9 hours long.
“His state has somewhat worsened, both in regards to his physical and psychological state. Robert has had worse days, but he is strong and he knows that staying in ICU is the best solution for him. His life is not in danger,” said Edyta.
His recovery after the first operation was going smoothly over a week ago and according to his doctor Francesco Lanza, he will have to go through another operation on his outer elbow in order to ensure that he recovers fully and as soon as possible. Robert Kubica will obviously have to be replaced for the 2011 Formula 1 season but the team is obviously not going to be the same without him as he was expected to be one of the top running drivers of the upcoming season and probably one of the title contenders as well.
His manager has not revealed any further updates about this development but it is very sad news indeed as the fans are hoping that the Pole recovers as soon as possible. The 2011 Formula 1 season is not going to be the same without Robert Kubica but it is expected that he will be replaced by Nick Heidfeld as the team has been testing him during the 2nd pre-season test session in Jerez and he has been producing some very good results as well.
The team has not announced its decision regarding Robert’s replacement officially but it is expected that Lotus Renault GP will announce their final decision on the 15th of February.
