The Borussia Dortmund striker has rejected a contract renewal offer citing unacceptable financial terms.
Borussia Dortmund have received a major setback after their in-form striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255, declined to sign a contract extension. The attacker was recently offered a renewed deal by the Borussians after speculation regarding
his departure to a bigger club surfaced. 
Lewandowski, a first team regular, has been the leading goal scorer this season for the Black Yellows. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-Barrios-c22533 to a bench role despite the
Paraguayan’s convincing performances last season. Barrios scored 16 goals last term from his 32 league appearances to help his side hold on to the Bundesliga crown.
Considering Lewandowski’s current form, Dortmund bosses came up with a new deal which was turned down by both the striker and his agent, Cezary Kucharski.
The agent mentioned that this renewed offer does no justice to his client’s talent and therefore is unacceptable. He stated that a player of Lewandowski’s class must be amongst the highest paid players at the Signal Iduna Park.
While talking to a sports website, reviersport.de, the agent further added:
"We are disappointed with the offer. I've said this to the president [Dr. Reinhard Rauball]. A player of this class should be among the highest-paid footballers at Dortmund. The club managers have pledged that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 is a part
of their future plans."
Lewandowski has been in sensational form this season for the Borussians and has already bagged 16 league goals from 24 outings so far. The striker has undoubtedly played a major role in helping Dortmund build a sizeable lead at
the top.
The attacker is certainly on the radar of many top European outfits and Dortmund might have to part ways with their prized asset if they do not come up with a better offer. The Polish has another two years remaining on his current
contract but he could leave the club at the end of the season for a new challenge.
Dortmund are currently fighting to retain their Bundesliga crown and hold a five-point advantage over Bayern Munich with nine games remaining in the competition.
