Robert Marve out for the rest of season
The Purdue Boilermakers’ quarterback Robert Marve will be out for the remainder of the 2010 season. Marve tore the ACL in his left knee during the first half of Purdue’s loss to Toledo last week. After the youngster underwent an MRI this week, it was confirmed
that he would not be available for the rest of the campaign.
Purdue head coach Danny Hope spoke about Marve’s injury, saying, “Robert Marve is a big part of our football family, he has worked extremely hard to be the great player that he is and our heart goes out to him. Boilermaker nation will rally behind him with
all of its support through this tough time.”
Marve has had a history of knee problems. The junior tore his ACL last summer and was unavailable throughout the 2009 season. This year, he tweaked his knee in the club’s week three win over Ball State, but was cleared to play in week four against Toldeo.
Marve will be replaced by freshman Rob Henry, who filled in for the injured quarterback after he was forced out of the game over the weekend. So far this season Henry has thrown for 233 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Nevertheless, Purdue will have to forge on, as the club takes on an unbeaten Northwestern side next week.
So far this season the Boilersmakers are 2-2 and have yet to play a conference game. The injury to Marve will not help the offence as the club has already struggled passing the ball, sitting 88th in the country with an average of 186 yards per-game.
This season with Purdue, Marve registered 512 passing yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions, along with one rushing touchdown to earn a quarterback rating of 113.
