Robert Mateusiak, Nadiezda Zieba march into second round of 2012 Bitburger Badminton Open

Mixed Doubles partners Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba showed superb coordination and secured a pre quarter-final berth in Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold on November 1, 2012.
They overpowered Freek Golinski-Severine Corvilain in the opening match by registering a convincing margin of 21-16 and 21-13.
This encounter remained in full swing for 23 minutes and both pairs played their heart out to claim a spot in the next round of this Grand Prix Gold event.
However, the Polish team ruled the court in both segments of the showdown and sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
The twosome of Robert and Nadiezda mounted pressure by clinching the first match point with distinction and then magnified the impact by winning the second set on merit.
In the opening game, they established a strong grip with 6-2 margin and made best out of this psychological edge in the next couple of rallies.
They did not show mercy and kept their rivals’ busy just in returning their masterly crafted strokes.
At the mid-game break, Robert-Nadiezda were enjoying the upper hand with a respectable score position of 11.
Later part of the game was also dominated by the Polish team who did not give the opposing duo even a single counter-attack opportunity and swept the table with an impressive figure of 21-16.
This first set loss proved the final blow for Freek-Severine and they failed to come out of their challengers influence also in the following game.
Things became worse for them when the Belgian couple dropped couple of crucial points in the establishing rallies.
Though, they were equal until 3-3 but then a few blunders triggered the collapse and Robert-Nadiezda made a notable difference with 6-3.
They carried this pace and finished first half of the set with scoreboard flashing 11-7 figure in their favour.
After the mid-game break, they injected more intensity in their attack and cornered their competitors.
Robert and Nadiezda placed a mountainous total of 17-7 in no time and then outclassed the opposing team with an impressive knock of 21-13.
Now they will test their skills against the German duo of Raphael Beck-Alina Hammes in the pre quarter-finals of this event.
