Robert Mateusiak, Nadiezda Zieba move into pre quarter-finals of Indonesia Open – Badminton news
Mixed Doubles partners Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba of Poland forged a fruitful chemistry and cleared first round of Djarum Indonesia Open on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
They were up against the twosome of Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Yu Yan Vanessa Neo and their meeting lasted for 34 minutes in local badminton arena of Jakarta. Though, this tussle ended in just two games but both teams put a great show of skills while registering the decisive figures of 21-18 and 21-18.
The Polish duo laid foundation of its dominance straight away in the opening game and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments of second set.
Robert and Nadiezda launched an intensive attack in the beginning of first set and bagged many valuable points in a row. This flow helped them to double their total before the announcement of one-minute break.
They did not lose this rhythm in latter part of the game and kept their challengers at the lower end. They maintained a significant difference on the points table and won this crucial game with a favourable score of 21-18.
Although the Singaporean shuttlers made every effort to counterbalance the situation, yet luck was not on their side. They kept trailing behind on the points table and ultimately surrendered after reading a disgraceful margin on the board.
The partnership of Danny and Yu Yan failed to end this bad patch even in the second set and crashed out of the tournament in a woeful manner.
On the other hand, the Polish team played with great precision and sealed a splendid straight-set victory. At first, Robert and Nadiezda were bit sluggish but then few productive strokes provided them the required momentum.
They left their competitors far behind on the points table by putting a mountainous figure of 11 and then strengthened their grip over game in third quarter of the set. Robert and Nadiezda confined the opposing team in rear court with a flurry of power packed smashes and capitalised this edge to place a winning margin of 21-18.
With this win, they gained access to pre quarter-finals where Tarun Kona-Ashwini Ponnappa of Indian will be their challengers.
