Robert Milkins wishes luck to Mark Allen, Stephen Lee after losing semi-final of 2012 World Open
Semi-finalist of 2012 World Open, England’s Robert Milkins tried his best to make an appearance at the Haikou Stadium arena in the Hainan Island against Stephen Lee but failed to improvise accordingly.
He dropped down in the second session after he pulled level with his opponent before the interval. He was disappointed after his lost but still he wished luck to Stephen Lee and Mark Allen as they will play in the final encounter of 2012 World Open.
The second semi-final contest between Lee and Milkins began with a topsy-turvy affair between the par as Milkins grabbed a splendid first frame win over Lee to get a 1-0 lead. Lee pulled level at 1-1 clinching the next frame quite easily. At the end of Frame
3, Milkins was again in the lead but Lee triumphed over him in the fourth rack to equalise the competition at 2-2.
The second session proved to be the final session as Lee breezed into four consecutive frame victories to hit the 6-2 winning number. Milkins had no chance to capitalise back and tumbled down quite easily.
After losing to Lee in the semis, Milkins said to the World Snooker, “My mindset wasn't very good tonight, even before I went on. It was quite hard playing Steve as we've known each a long time but if you're not on top of your game, you don't beat the top
players. I can't expect to have won playing like I did.”
He added, “I should be higher up the rankings than I am but when you play like I played tonight it makes you wonder what future you've got. Good luck to Mark and Steve in the final - it will be a good game between two good players and I expect it will be
a better standard than it was tonight.”
Lee has now made his way into the finals while Milkins will be heading to the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield in April where he will be participating in the qualifiers of the 2012 World Snooker Championship. He might be facing China’s Xiao Guodong in
the sixth round of qualifiers.
