The 98.5km circuit in Mucuge on Friday was the site of a dramatic conclusion to the inaugural edition of the Brasil Ride. Robert Novotny and Czech teammate Kristian Hynek were declared the overall winners despite the former’s collision with a video moto which kept him from crossing the finish line and put him in hospital with a broken collarbone. "Given the circumstances and the fact that the riders were only 2km from the finish line, we decided that this would not be the proper way to lose a race," said race director Mario Roma while announcing the winner.
