Robert Peralta out of UFC on Fox 2 due to injury – UFC news
According to UFC officials, Robert Peralta will not be having the rematch against Semerzier at UFC on Fox 2, since he has suffered a severe injury.
Robert Peralta was expected to have his rematch against Semerzier but not it will not happen, instead Daniel Pineda will replace Peralta. Daniel Pineda made his successful debut at UFC on Fox 1 after defeating Pat Schilling through a deadly submission. It
should be noted here that Pat Schilling was a newcomer as well and it was a debut fight for both the fighters.
UFC on Fox 2 is scheduled to take place on March 3, at the Allphones Arena in Sydney and will be headlined by Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann at 170 pounds. Also on the event will be the opening round of the four-man flyweight championship tournament featuring
Yasuhiro Urushitani, Ian McCall, Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez.
It was at UFC on Fox 1 when Peralta fought Semerzier for the first time. Peralta finished Semerzier with ground-and-pound ending the fight with a technical knockout. However, the fight soon became victim of controversy just when it was realised John McCarthy,
the referee, had overlooked an unintentional head-butt to Semerzier by Peralta.
Soon after the fight, Semerzier’s side appealed in the California State Athletic commission, because of which Peralta’s victory was changed to a no-contest.
With all of what happened last year, both fighters were eager to have the rematch to prove their mettle. However, seems like neither Peralta was not lucky enough nor Semerzier to get the opportunity.
Now, Semerzier will be moving on to fight Daniel Pineda. Compared to Peralta, Daniel is less experienced which gives Semerzier the upper hand. If Semerzier is able to win this fight, he will move on to the next stage in his career. However, it is more important
for Daniel to grab the victory to give that much needed boom to his career.
UFC on Fox 2 will be televised live from Australia on March 3. Most of the bouts of the event are confirmed while some are still being under consideration or are in the finalisation stages.
