While talking to Ligue1.com, the Frenchman stated that there is no denying that Ligue 1 is getting stronger day by day and feels that it will ultimately benefit France. Talking about Paris Saint-Germain and the massive investment they have carried out in
the summer, Pires said that PSG deserve credit for helping Ligue 1 raise it's profile in the world.

Of course the catalyst is Paris Saint-Germain and I think that what the president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is doing is fantastic. It’s one thing to have money, but he’s spending it in an intelligent
way.”
The 38-year-old added that Paris Saint-Germain are capable of defeating any team in the world on their day. With so many quality players at their disposal, PSG have become a force to reckon, not only in France but also in Europe.
“I think PSG are building a strong team in a clever, calculated way; they have top players at the back, in midfield and up front.”
Pires said that apart from the Ile giants, there are several other teams in the league capable of rivalling PSG for the Championelle. However, the former France international feels that Paris Saint-Germain have an edge over the other teams in the country.
“Then you have the other French clubs who are trying to fight with them. It’s going to be hard because PSG have certainly the strongest squad in France now."
