Robert Pires insists his experience will mix well with Aston Villa's youthful squad

Aston Villa signing, Robert Pires, has declared he is a good fit for his new side, insisting his experience will complement the team’s youthful exuberance.
The former Arsenal man made the surprise switch to the Midlands this week and spoke of how he is looking forward to linking up with such an exciting young squad.
The Frenchman told AVTV: “Villa have good young players and this is very important for the future of the club. For me, with any football team, the most important thing is to have a good
mix. Villa have some top youngsters. They have quality. If you put that alongside players of good experience like Emile Heskey, it's good. I hope to bring my experience to the team and help the younger players.”
At 37-years-old, Pires may not be used as the clever winger he was in his Arsenal days. Villa are currently blessed with an abundance of options on the flanks, so Pires may be utilised
in an advanced central role, perhaps more as a playmaker. It remains to be seen where Gerard Houllier uses his new signing, but as Pires explains, linking up with his fellow Frenchman was a major factor in signing for the Midlands outfit.
“Playing for Gerard was a big factor. He is French and I am French of course, he is a great manager. Look at what he won at Liverpool. Now he's at Villa but it was important, the chance
to work with Gerard,” Pires stated.
Signing just a six-month deal, Pires represents a short-term option for Houllier. It will be interesting to see just how good Pires still is, as during his spell with the Gunners, he cemented
himself as one of the Premier League’s finest wingers at the time.
