Robert Rock believes Tiger Woods is on course to win more major titles
Newly crowned king of Abu Dhabi, Robert Rock believes that Tiger Woods has finally regained his former winning form and is on the course to pull in more major titles in his career.
Rock surged to stardom last week at Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship where he took the better of the field to bag his second European Tour title early in the year.
Asked if Woods is on course to pulling more major titles, Rock replied,
"Yeah, absolutely, he's well underway with doing that. Maybe the fourth round didn't go quite to plan for him, but his play over the first three days was very, very good and the statistics prove that his swing is where he wants it to be”.
Rock might just have a point considering Woods recent performances at the closing sessions of the last year, where he brought an end to his winless streak with Chevron World Challenge.
The former world number one surged to number 21st on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) with his spectacular wire-to-wire victory after having fallen out of the top-50 for the first time in 15 years.
The Englishman further added,
"I was just lucky to be the one that won on Sunday, but I think you'll be seeing a lot more victories from Tiger pretty soon. He was great to play with, he was very complimentary about any good shots I hit so that made things a bit easier for me".
The 34-year-old Englishman later admitted that he has spent years “selling Mars bars and watching Tiger win majors”, when he used to work as a bar tender and a golf teacher at Swingers Golf Centre in Tamworth.
Rock held his nerve in the final round of the event, when he was constantly threatened by the likes of Rory McIlroy and Woods.
Starting his day with a lead from the third round, Rock managed to stay ahead of one of the strongest fields ever compiled for the tournament, landing the title at the end of the day.
The Englishman surged to number 55th on the OWGR from his previous low of 117th. He has been part of the European Tour for almost a decade but has spent most of his career struggling to gain form.
