Robert Wagner signed up with Team Rabobank for 2013
Robert Wagner of Team RadioShack-Nissan has pledged his 2013 season with Team Rabobank and the Dutch team hopes to make the most out of the German’s experience in the season ahead.
"I know what I can do. I am by my nature more of a helper,” Robert voiced.
“As a sprinter, you always have to be a killer. You have to have way more of those days in a year. Theo has shown that he can regularly win," he concluded.
The 29-year-old started riding with Team Milram in 2006 and spent a period of one year with the team.
He accepted an offer from Team Wiesenhof-Felt in 2007 before signing a three-year deal with Team Skil-Shimano through 2008-2010.
Robert helped the side with several top performances throughout the three seasons which include numerous first place finishes and stage victories.
He received an offer from Team Leopard-Trek in 2011 and it was really a no-brainer as the cyclist was pleased to sign-up with a team of such high calibre.
Team Leopard-Trek and Team RadioShack Nissan decide to join hands for the 2012 season and only the top performers from both the teams were to be given contracts.
Wagner’s first place finish at the National Road Race, third overall at the Le Samyn and a second spot during the stage 2 of the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen earned him a spot at the Luxembourg side.
Alongside Wagner, David Tanner of Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank has also signed up with the Dutch team.
“I mean, I actually pipped Theo [Bos] once. But that just was on one of the two or three days in a year on which everything clicked”.
Theo Bos welcomed the two new inclusions in the side and noted that the team is now much stronger and has a lot to offer in the season ahead.
He was quoted as saying, "This is one more good step in our development, the foundation is now stronger. Now we’ll be able to go for more sprints.
“I know Tanner from racing, and he’s quite a strong fella. And Wagner will bring in a lot of experience”.
Only time will tell, if the two new inclusions can really give Team Rabobank the boost they need to improve their performance in the season ahead.
