Question:

Robert Walls - an unbiased commentator?

Watching the Anzac Day match, and I don't know what Essendon were doing, except playing football wasn't in the mix.

Congratulations to Collingwood for winning and to the Anzac medallist.

I was annoyed by Robert Walls' incessant bagging of Essendon on Channel 10. We know he dislikes Essendon, and it is fairly clear why, but the role of a commentator is to give objective assessment and maybe a little wit and encouragement(thank you Mr Cometti!) not to run down a team to an audience of millions.

How about combining Luke Darcy - also something to watch! - with Huddo(if we must, he's boring).

My choice would be David Schwartz. Smart, funny, an ex player and also watchable.

Or who else would you like to see replace old f**t Walls?

  1. Cometti the exception, ALL commentators are bias..

Love to see nathan brown commentate after he retires, hes a cack... oh or brad johnson..

No doubt big mouth Aka will find his opinions in the commentator seat one day! booo..

Between commentators and umpires the players gotta do it tough some days..

  2. Walls is a bigoted old bore whose minor claim to fame came about with Carlton and thus he is heavily biassed against Essendon.

I know he's had terrible personal problems in the last couple of years but sensible people take time off when they can't manage, not vent their anger at the world by knocking people who are doing their best against the odds.

I would replace him with Scott West, who did a good job on Before the Game last week, so Ch 10 can't have a problem with him, and who must be in his last year or so, I think he is 33.

Walls are said to have ears, but in this case not for listening to wiser people.

  3. You have got my support to get rid of Walls. For the last two years or so I have been fed up with his tireless bagging of the Bombers. I think that just about anyone could replace him, but then again, 10 have got a long list of Carlton and Collingwood supporters in their team so who knows who they could use? Perhaps Michael Voss; hes very fair and being a premiership captain and a Brownlow medalist makes him more believable than most commentators. Channel 7 have probably got the best game callers; Cometti, Schwartz, Watson, Buckley and Olarenshaw on the boundary. Notice I didn't mention McAvaney - he and Walls are tarred with the same brush!

  4. while watching the match today I heard Robert Walls answer a question asked of him who else do you think should play on Anzac day he quite openly said he wished it was Collingwood and Carlton

  5. I wasnt listening but it doesnt surprise me ... he is a strong headed type

  6. He likes to think he is being smart but in actual fact he is just being a smart *** who thinks the teams he hates are fair game because people are stupid enough to pay him for his opinion when in fact my 8 yr old granddaughter could do a better job than him.

  7. ????????????????????????????????????????...

  8. i cant stand Walls

  9. As I said to my daughter this afternoon picking between Collingwood and Essendon is like selecting which end of the noose you want to get hung by.

    I hate them both passionately.

  10. Robert Walls is the most biased commentator and i'm glad i have found someone who agrees with me!

He constantly bags teams on countless occassions especially essendon and west coast and manages to include a remark about sydney in almost every game i watched in 2005-07, "(insert team name)... is sydney-like, they are very defensive..."

"(insert team name)... waits until they find a short option inside attacking 50, just like sydney" and so on and so on

Robert Walls is an extremely biased, annoying commentator eughhh...
