Roberta Vinci breezes into the third round after dumping Iryna Bremond – French Open 2011
Thirtieth seeded Italian Roberta Vinci eased past French wild card entrant, Iryna Bremond in straight sets to advance into the third round of 2011 Roland Garros, second of the four Grand Slam event held in Paris, France. She took
just seventy-six minutes to down the 26-year-old Bremond in front of her home crowd.
World number thirty-one, Vinci showed up her tremendous skills at Stade Roland Garros to best Bremond, the winner of Mallorca, Kunming and Wenshan ITF, in straight sets in their first ever meeting.
28-year-old Italian, who recently won the title at Barcelona, thundered into the opening set and with her blistering forehands, she kept her entire serves confidently. Vinci faced zero breakpoint and broke the youngster’s serve
in the sixth game to edge past her in thirty-three minutes with a 6-3 score line.
She produced an acceptable first serve share of 69 percent as compared to slightly higher of Bremond’s 71 percent and registered a fascinating 90 percent win on it. In addition to this, the Italian clobbered fewer unforced errors
i.e. 8 to Bremond’s eleven and hammered ten amazing winners.
Vinci kept the rage mode in the final set and won the first two games and got the coveted break in the very first game. She later held her entire serves with amazing agility from her arsenal of skills to eventually seal the set
by winning six games to four.
The Italian produced an awesome first serve share of 81 percent as opposed to Frenchwoman’s 65 percent and earned a plausible 80 percent win on it. She saved the only breakpoint faced and converted one out of four breakpoint opportunities
to her advantage to help win comfortably.
Up next for the Italian is the fourth seeded Belarusian Victoria Azarenka. World number four, Azarenka destroyed a former top forty player, French Pauline Parmentier with a bagel and a breadstick to reach this spot.
The Belarusian is in top form and had a twelve match winning streak earlier this season before she got injured and was forced to retire from the opening round match at Stuttgart. After recovering, she made it to another final at
Madrid. However, she got injured at Rome again before entering this major clay court tournament.
