The Real Madrid legend has stated that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 will have to fight for his place in order to knock Diego Lopez off his goal keeping perch.
One of the most fresh first team selection dilemmas is being faced by Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho as he faces a real head-ache in selecting between two top goal-keepers.
Iker Casillas, the icon of Madrid and the captain of the Spanish capital club, was forced out of action due to an injury in the month of January. Consequentially the Los Blancos captain had to miss out a fair portion of the Whites season, rushing the Madrid
board into the transfer market for an extra goalkeeper.
The things turned out to be pretty strange for Mourinho as he had little idea as to what his potential January signing would bring with him.
Diego Lopez was signed in the end of January and was seen as a direct replacement for the injured Casillas and he did great to fill in the shoes of the Madrid icon.
His most impressive displays came against English giants Manchester United in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League as his spectacular saves denied Manchester United certain vital goals over the course of two legs.
Now, as Casillas has made a comeback to training and is fit for action, Jose Mourinho has still given the performing Lopez the nod ahead of the Real Madrid captain and this has sparked some controversy.
Former Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Carlos-c31317 has stated that Casillas will have to fight for his place in the team.
"Iker has always been a starter and I wasn't expecting him to be injured. Neither was I expecting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Lopez to return to the club and perform so well," Roberto Carlos told Marca.
"Mourinho is his own man, he has his own way of doing things and you have to respect that. Now Iker will have to fight for a spot because nowhere in his contract does it say that he will be in the starting XI for the next 40 years."
Casillas’ last match came back on January 23rd, against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 in the Copa Del Rey.
