Do you believe Roberto Clemente's number should be retired by MLB? Is this a legitimate proposition? Could it be considered pandering to an ever-growing Latino baseball population/fanbase? What are your thoughts?

  1. I personally do not feel that they should retire any numbers throughout baseball.  It should be on a "by team" basis.  Sure, Roberto Clemente and Jackie Robinson had great careers and were amazing human beings.  However, wouldn't you feel that it would be an honour to wear such a number?

  2. Clemente not only brought credit to his heritage by being probably the best Latin American player ever, but he was also an exemplary human being and humanitarian. He was the first Latino in the HOF and had a very distinguished career, but why should all of baseball retire his number? There were others that wore "21" that were also pretty good and to start a trend of retiring numbers for the greatest of the greats is wrong. Let those in Pittsburgh remember him with his statue, PNC Park's Clemente Wall, the Clemente Bridge and his retired number. Other teams should do the same for their Greatest!
