http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, the former caretaker manager who replaced Andre Villas-Boas at the helm of the club has revealed he is not worried about his position at the club.
Andre Villas-Boas, the current Tottenham Hotspur manager, was appointed the Chelsea manager last summer after the Blues signed him from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. Even though he got off to a brilliant start with the club, the London side suffered a dip in form as the season
progressed.
In March Andre Villas-Boas was sacked as the manager and his assistant coach Roberto Di Matteo was made the caretaker manager. He has done incredibly well, leading Chelsea to the FA Cup and the Champions League in just a few months in charge at Stamford
Bridge.
However, he is aware that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 owner Roman Abramovich has very little patience with underperforming managers. Di Matteo will have to replicate his success this season if he wishes to remain in charge of the Blues in the upcoming seasons.
The Italian though was not too concerned about his future, he revealed he remained in touch with the hierarchy at the club and was aware of what they required of him.
Di Matteo said in an interview:
“We have always been in touch and had a few meetings. I know the process sometimes takes a bit of time, it is an important decision for the club and I have no problems with it at all.
I am pretty confident and very happy to be here working with a great squad, who have achieved a lot in the past and have the hunger to achieve even more.”
The 42-year-old said he was confident about his position at the club and despite the pressure brought on by the Champions League win, he was certain of coping with the stress successfully. Di Matteo praised his squad and their efforts in the past season.
He revealed:
“I was always confident in my ability, but you know how the football industry works.
Managers are replaced for some reasons and you just have to keep working and keep developing and try your best and try and get the results for your club.”
