http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo’s men were not able to reproduce their F.A Cup winning performance at Anfield against Liverpool in their latest encounter with Kenny Dalglish’s team as Liverpool gained all three points at their home stadium.
With one eye on the UEFA Champions League final, Di Matteo fielded an altered Chelsea line up and got punished by Liverpool for that as Luis Suarez and co. ran rampant in front of their home support.
Even though Liverpool failed to convert a penalty kick that they were awarded due to Ivanovic’s foul on Andy Carroll, it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 who struck the post with the spot kick. Nonetheless, Liverpool scored four goals in total
at their home stadium, something of a rarity this season, a campaign where they have failed to produce the goods on the offensive front on a consistent number of times.
Di Matteo said, "I thought Liverpool were the better side tonight. They were inspired and scored goals at the right time as well. They were better than us tonight and we need to give credit to them. I thought we would have a better
chance with a fresh and energetic team. We have been using the strength in the squad to be here.”
He added, "We've played with these players all season and they carried us this far. There was still a chance of fourth spot before tonight. We've tried very hard. We've pushed in every game but Liverpool were better than us today.
We lost many points during the whole season; you can't just look at today"
