As the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals approach their conclusion, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager is anxious to keep his team focused and ready for the end of the season as the Blues remain Premier League’s only representatives in
the UEFA Champions League this season...
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo has come out and made it clear that his team need to concentrate on their remaining league and the UEFA Champions League matches despite their terrific form of late. Chelsea have been a resurgent outfit under
Di Matteo’s guidance as the Italian took over from Andre Villas Boas shortly after the Portuguese manager was dismissed as the first team manager at Chelsea.
Chelsea won their recent encounter against Aston Villa but they almost gave up their lead during the match as Benfica equalized to bring it the score line at 2-2 before Chelsea wrapped it up with two quick goals at the end of the
tie.
The Blues now face off against Benfica in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, Chelsea have a one goal advantage as they won the first leg which was held away at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984. Di Matteo’s men are still outside
the top four places in the Premier League but they are slowly closing in on Tottenham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 who are currently level on points at fourth and third places respectively in the league table.
Di Matteo stated, "Absolutely. We won't switch off. Only 50% has been done and the qualification is over two games. We have put ourselves in a good position but Benfica away from home are a very strong side and they are capable
of scoring as well so there will be no complacency from our side at all. I think we've been fighting very good in the last three weeks, we have shown that on several occasions.”
He added, "The reaction after they drew (level) was fantastic from the team because we could have capitulated, but we went the other way and had this strong desire to win the game. It's great, when you win games it's fantastic,
everybody pulling in the right direction - it's good."
