Roberto Gomez seizes Men’s 50m freestyle gold: Day three – Venezuela Open Championships
Roberto Gomez of SCLN seized gold medal of the Men’s 50m freestyle in the 14 and above age category on third day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 19.
The 24-year-old Gomez demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the single lap freestyle event as he outsmarted his opponents on the finishing end for gold medal.
With his stupendous efforts, he remained two strokes ahead of his strongest challenger and settled on the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a time of 23.13 seconds.
The champion was followed by Glen A Sochackyj of HHISP, who stayed 0.19 seconds apart and tapped the finishing end for second position by producing a time of 23.32 seconds.
Third spot of the discipline was obtained by Jesus Lopez of CNCDC, who was just 0.01 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 23.33 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Aleja Petruzzella of CIVMI and Jesus Casanova of MAPOR, who failed to overpower each other over the finishing wall and settled on the finishing end in a joint fourth.
The duo stayed 0.03 seconds slower from the third position holder and emerged on the finishing end for fourth position by producing a time of 23.36 seconds.
They were followed by Rohan Pinto of CIVO, who suffered a deficit of 0.24 seconds from his former finisher and completed his race by touching the wall with the timing of 23.60 seconds for sixth position.
Subsequently, seventh position of the discipline was followed by Jonathan Camacho of MAXVI, who remained only 0.06 seconds behind his preceding swimmer and concluded his race by submitting a time of 23.66 seconds.
Following that, the crowd witnessed a sluggish effort of Erick Perez of HHISP, who failed to live up to the expectations of his supporters and tapped the wall with an effort of 23.69 seconds.
Furthermore, the arena appreciated commendable efforts of all participants in the 50m discipline while the position holders were called upon the victory stand for medals and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
