Roberto Hernandez expects pardon from Cleveland Indians – MLB News
Roberto Hernandez, formerly known as Fausto Carmona is expecting a judicial pardon from the Cleveland Indians franchise and its fans in order to play in the next Major League Baseball season.
Hernandez has cheated the entire system of his native country Dominican Republic and United States of America telling a lie or somewhat hiding his real identity and age for his own reasons to make some extra bucks on receiving lengthy contracts from MLB franchises.
Currently residing in Dominican Republic, Hernandez is seeking a judicial pardon which will allow him to feature in 2012. Hernandez told the media in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, "I'm doing all that is necessary so that when the pardon is granted, I won't have to wait long to play again, I know I should have come clean before, but I was scared to reveal what happened to me, That's why I waited until it became public."
Later, Tribe’s manager Manny Acta stated in the regarding Hernandez’s issue, "I think he's complying with the process of getting out there and educating kids, That being said, it's strictly in the hands of the U.S. Consulate."
The Indians pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez said also said for Hernandez, "I talked to him after it happened. He said he was really embarrassed. That's the first thing he told me."
Now until Hernandez gets a waiver from US government, he cannot play a Major League game. On the other hand, some experts are taking this situation with a bit of optimism. They are stating in the media as Hernandez’s situation in which he has been purely discouraged by every baseball lover, is certainly a great learning opportunity for many youngsters who still know very little about the repercussions after this kind of cheating.
Talking on moral grounds where these types of acts always lead to total humiliation in the end and now the same has happened with him. While to evaluate critically, Hernandez might have gained some extra benefit from giving the wrong impression about his age and name, but the disgrace he brought to his own character is much bigger than the little benefit he got.
